Biscuits & Bluegrass
Hi Market Friends! 👋
The summer harvest is winding down, and we can hardly believe there are only two Saturdays left in the market season. It has been such a joy to gather every Saturday morning with local farmers, makers, friends and neighbors who love fresh food, good company, and the charm of market mornings.
This Saturday, September 13, we’re adding something extra special: biscuits and bluegrass! Come enjoy hot, fluffy biscuits served with homemade apple and pumpkin butters while bluegrass music fills the air. It’s the perfect way to slow down, savor the season, and celebrate community.
Alongside the music and food, our vendors will be bringing their very best late-summer harvests. You’ll also find handmade goods, farm-fresh eggs, local honey and organic chicken to stock your kitchen.
Enjoy these easy, delicious apple and pumpkin butter recipes that can’t help but make you excited for Fall!
Slow-Cooker Apple Butter
Ingredients:
4 cups unsweetened applesauce (or peeled, cored, chopped apples if you want)
½–1 cup brown sugar (adjust to taste)
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
¼ teaspoon ground cloves
¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
Pinch of salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
Instructions:
Add applesauce, brown sugar, spices, and salt to the slow cooker. Stir to combine.
Cook on low for 6–8 hours, stirring every 2 hours. If using fresh apples, cook until very soft, then puree with an immersion blender.
Stir in vanilla if desired. Taste and adjust sweetness or spices.
Remove lid and cook on low for 1 more hour to thicken slightly, stirring occasionally.
Cool and store in jars in the fridge for up to 3 weeks.

🌈 Eat the Rainbow Program – Through September 20!
We’re thrilled to see so many families participating in our Eat the Rainbow program this season! This fun and educational initiative encourages kids to try a variety of colorful, fresh fruits and vegetables each week.
Teaching kids to eat fresh and healthy early sets the stage for lifelong healthy habits and overall good health as they grow into adulthood. There’s still time to join in — the program runs until the end of the season on September 20.
Don’t forget to bring the kids by this Saturday to grab their free Rainbow Bucks so they can buy fresh produce all on their own!
